Question: My 83 year old father had a CT Scan with contrast XXXXXXX today at noon. He was told to not take his Metformin and Januvia for the next two days but forget and took them a few minutes ago. Is he in any immediate danger?

Brief Answer:
Almost No danger but tell your doctor about it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query,

There is no danger if your father has taken a dose his diabetic drug which was asked to avoid before CT scan. Mostly oral diabetic medications are advised to avoid for couple of days to check the renal function following CT contrast.

However,if your father is passing urine very well then there is almost no need to worry and better to avoid his next two doses as directed by your doctor for 2 days.

Also, I would suggest you that you should tell to your doctor about the incident.
