Posted on Wed, 11 May 2016
Question: My son 4.5 year is having frequent asthmatic attacks(not sure) inspite of giving continuous foracort n singulair for 4 mnths....whenever he goes out in pollution or cold waves, his coughing starts n the coughing is continuous for 48 hrs. To treat this doctors give steriods n ask us to nebulise. Though his breathing remains normal not like other asthama kids. Yesterday he has same attack n doctor changed foracort to seroflo125 n also said tht he has iiritable airways.....please i want to know what does it mean n will it remain attached with my child for life long? His xray n blood reports r normal

Brief Answer:
Asthma

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
Asthma is something that we carry with us our entire lives. But the severity of the asthma does not necessarily stay the same. Sometimes different medications need to be tried until the right combination is found. At that point the asthma is better controlled and life becomes a lot easier.

Detailed Answer:
You can discuss with your doctor about seeing a pediatric pulmonologist. There are tests that they can do involving your son blowing into a machine. nothing invasive like bloodwork. This can often help determine the most effective medication.
