Is Accidental Intake Of Methadone Dangerous?

Question: i accidently took 1 of my moms 10mg methadone XXXXXXX how long will it be in my system i;am on percaset 10mg and have not took any when i realized i took 1 of hers and i;am so upset and worried about it

Brief Answer: Normally lasts 10-12 hours, can last up to 36 Detailed Answer: Hi there. Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. Don't worry too much. Methadone is not that XXXXXXX a drug when you are already on Percocet. The drug can be traced in the system for up to 50 odd hours, but on average it is eliminated in about 36. But it really only has a clinical effect for about 12 hours. What I would recommend is that you drink plenty of water and skip the rest of the pan meds for the rest of the evening. when i go 2 my back doctor and he test 4 the drugs in my system with the new nor laws will i be able 2 pass it and it not show up

Brief Answer: Depends on the test Detailed Answer: Hi. Thanks for coming back. It really depends on WHICH tests they do. Skin hair and nails will have traces of the drugs for months. Blood and urine normally cycle them out in a week or so. It would be a good idea to write down the time you took them and explain what happened to the doctor. I'm pretty sure they won't torture you for an honest mistake. You can bring your moms prescription in with you as well to show him that the meds are available legally and that it was just a mix-up. so within a week of drinking lots of water everyday the methadone will be out of my blood and urine which is what they always check thank u so much u have eased my mind
