Is A Tumor In The Ascending Colon A Serious Concern?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Jun 2014
Question: I had a colonoscopy and they found a tumor that was in the ascending colon and unable to push through with the scope. I have an upcoming CT scan. My question how often are these benign versus CA? The larger the tumor the more advanced correct? Symptoms have been limited to intermittent pain

Brief Answer:
Wait for biopsy results first.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your colonoscopy report, and the mass I noticed is not alike to a CA. However, as they have took material for biopsy, would like to have the biopsy result first before running into final conclusions.

If a large tumor is noticed, it does not necessarily mean that it is CA. There are cases where a large tumor has been reported as non-ca from biopsy. Or, vice-versa, a small tumor resulted invasive CA.

So, it is better to wait for the biopsy results first. You can continue with healthy eating habits and using pain-killers for the pain.

Hope it answered to your questions!
