Is A Spot On The Right Eye A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Oct 2016
Question: I just saw a spot on my right eye on the white area that looks like a fatty deposit- it is circular shape and maybe 1/4 inch in circumference. My vision does not seem to be any different. Any ideas what this could be.
Thanks very much, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Pingicula

Detailed Answer:
My Dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This has been there for a long time.Though I would have been happier with a photograph, still, this is most likely to be a pinguicula. This is a degenerative change in conjunctiva, occuring due to exposure to sun and wind,so occurs only in exposed portion.
This requires no treatment and causes no problem,it is not even visible to others so a cosmetic removal is also un called for.

Brief Answer:
Swelling of lacrimal gland

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I stand corrected,as this is not pinguicula. This is a swelling if lacrimal gland. There is no synonym so we just have to wait and watch. If swelling increases, anti inflammatory medication is needed. As of now wat for a while to see if there is a change.
