Is A Blood Sugar Test Required To Check For Risks Of Diabetes When My Regular Blood Test Reports Came Normal?

Question: Hi--I had a general blood test a few months ago(the basic blood test when one goes to the Dr. for a physical). Everything came back "normal". At some point I had questions about diabetes but figured I didn't have to go further (with a glucose test) since everything came back "normal". Is this correct?

Brief Answer:
You can do a fasting blood sugar test for confirmation

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

We can get an general idea about your diabetes status by doing RBS (random blood sugar) which is included in routine tests. Your RBS may be normal that’s why the doc said everything is normal.
You can go for a fasting blood sugar test to know the exact diabetes status just for reassurance.

Thanks.
