Is Zithromax Effective At Treating Pneumonia?
Question: Hi doc, my name is XXXXXXX XXXXXXX and I live in ski country Utah. My dear daughter is in NYC in the hospital with necrotizing pneumonia. Her husband is with her. She was treated and released Friday. She hasn't responded to the Zithromax. She's thirty six and almost obese. It's snowing a blizzard at 2am and I'm preparing myself emotionally to jump in the truck and drive to the airport to fly there. Am I being dramatic? Should I wait to hear from her doctor?
Do you have any friends in
NYU Langone Medical Center?

Brief Answer:
No need to panic.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since she was already admitted in hospital. She must be improving that's why she was released from hospital.
So no need to panic.
Tell her to finish the course of medicines given by hospital and follow up with chest x ray.
It takes atleast 3 weeks to improve completely in necrotising pneumonia.
So better not to rush. Wait for her follow up doctor's visit.
Sorry to say but I don't know anyone there.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
