Brief Answer:

Suggestions on vitamin D preparations

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

No problem. Ultra D3 syrup contains 1000IU of vitamin D per 5ml. You can give 2ml of this preparation to a 6-month-old infant. It will work out to the same dose, please.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have been giving only 0.5 ml drops one time per day till now. I understand that syrup is more concentrated than drops. If I give 2ml syrup now, I will b increasing the dose by 4 times. is that ok?

Brief Answer:

You were giving low dose

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You were giving a low dose of Vitamin D.

The appropriate dose is 400 International units per day.
Drops has strength of 400 International units for 1 ml and so you have to give 1 ml of it.

Syrup contains 1000 International units per 5 ml and so 2ml gives you 400 International units and is the appropriate dose.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
