Is Taxim O The Right Antibiotic For Swollen Penis In Children?
Question: Hello Sir,
I have a son who is 8 months old. He has a swollen penis (at the tip). Yesterday night we went emergency care and the General Surgeon over there suggested Taxim O antibiotic for 5 days 4 ml twice.
But today he seems fine, though the swell is still there.
So wanted to check with you if we should continue or stop the antibiotic.

Brief Answer:
Treat it completely
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. It seems that your child has an episode of balanitis which is usually caused by exposure to bacteria, fungus, or yeast. Don't worry as it can be easily treated.
If the condition is better within a day of starting antibiotics, I would recommend you to just complete 3 days course and stop the antibiotics there after.
Also, clean the penis after retracting foreskin twice daily with lukewarm water.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
