Question: I would like to have my blood tests (Attached) to see if I have a kidney problem and how bad it is. I was asked to have my kidney tests by my neurologist who wants to be sure the kidney is in good enough shape for me to IV-immunoglobulan treatment for small fiber neuropathy that is hard on the kidneys.

Brief Answer:
Your kidney problem isn't severe.

Detailed Answer:
Your kidney funtions at the time of the tests are only marginaly low.

I also notice that your white blood cell counts, are elevated - that suggests presence of an infection - which could cause a temporary drop in renal functions.
(However counts may be raised - if you are recieving steroids for any reason. - check with your doctor)

The CT scan shows normal kidneys and your urine tests are unremarkable, except a very minor amount of protein.

As a precaution keep yourself well hydrated (unless you have been advised fluid restriction for any other medical condition) Avoid over the counter analgesics - that can harm kidneys.

There dosen't appear to be any major concern regarding kidneys, in recieving I.V. Immunoglobulin.

Thank you for the thourough and quick follow-up. About the WBC, you were right as I am on a weekly IV Steroid drip for 12 weeks, thus as you suggest, that would be the cause.

At the moment there aren't much concerns regarding your kidney functions. however they need to be regularly monitored.

Thank you, that is what I wanted to know. By the way, I am on my 3rd week of once a week 50Mb IV Drop (Solumudrol) so good catch on the white blood count, I will tell my doctor. I am meeting my doctor again about these results but not for 2 1/2 weeks from now so this gives me a good idea befor that, thanks.
