Question: I went to a business meeting last night and had way too much to eat and drink betweek 6:00 pm and 9:30 pm. 5 or 6 cocktails and 3 or 4 glasses of wine and I overate as well. I got home around 11 and slept for a few hours but woke up around 3:30 am and was really hungover. I take 2 mgs xanax and 1 ambien every night but I didnt take any ambien and I waited til 7:30 am to take my xanax because I wanted to make sure the alcohol had metabolized. My script is 3 mgs xanax per day as needed. I already took two at 730 but now its 11 and I am experiencing hangover induced anxiety. Would it be ok to take the third dose now.

I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you can take xanax now. It has been more than 12 hours since you stopped drinking alcohol and most of alcohol is out of your system.
You were having a considerable amount of alcohol but most probably it is completely out of system now.
Now I think you can take ambien and xanax as usual.
Remember to limit alcohol intake while on xanax and ambien. The alcohol intake together with them tend to increase sedative effects of the drugs, drowsiness, lack of concentration and euphoria.
