I Took A Vaginal Swab To Test For STDs About

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2020
Question: I took a vaginal swab to test for STDs about 5 weeks ago and when I was taking the swab out of the tube I accidentally dropped the q tip on the floor and I picked it back up and still used it to swab my vagina. Is there any way I could contract some kind of STD? I was only tested for gonorhea and chlamydia and they both came back negative.

Brief Answer:
No risk of contracting STD.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't think you are at risk of contracting any STD because of the q tip falling on floor and used in vagina.
The test results were negative for Chlamydia and gonorrhea so the stick was not contaminated.
The possibility of acquiring any viral STD such HIV, hepatitis B and C is very low.
They don't live longer on floor, on open air and are not commonly found on the floor.
So you don't have much risk of contracting any STD by dropping the q tip on floor and using to swap the vagina.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
