Brief Answer:
For a persistent tear surgical repair is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The injury of rotator cuff usually heals in 8-12 weeks with proper rest and anti inflammatory medicines. In case there is an evidence of tear or damage of tendons in a recent MRI scan then going for an arthroscopic repair is the best way to heal the rotator cuff properly.
To overcome the stiffness and restriction of movement in the shoulder, regular physiotherapy and oral muscle relaxants can help.
I hope this answers your query.

Yes, the MRI did show some tear. what are the risks of the arthroscopic repair? How Long to heal after the operatiion? How should I prepare for operation?

Brief Answer:
It takes 6-8 weeks to heal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Arthroscopic repair is a safe procedure. After the repair it takes 6-8 weeks for the cuff to heal properly. You need to go for regular physiotherapy after the surgery to regain the full movement of the shoulder joint and to regain the tone of the muscles.
No special preparation is needed. You can do deep breathing exercises to help with your respiration during anaesthesia.
Hope my answer is helpful.
