Posted on Tue, 16 Oct 2018
Question: I have recently noticed the area above my collar bones getting "fat" . More on the left , but not a drastic difference. Not painful and no defining lumps. I am 53yrs old, .5'2'' and 117lbs. I recently have had ear infections back to back. Treating the 2nd one now with in the ear antibiotics. I am on no other medications. Thoughts ?

Brief Answer:
It could be enlarged lymph nodes

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The area both collar contains blood vessels, supraclavicular lymph nodes, fatty tissue, etc.

Are you able to feel any lumps in the area? If yes, what is their texture?

In my opinion its supraclavicular lymphadenopathy. It could also be a lung pathology. It requires examination by a surgeon and also CT scan chest and abdomen to look for any other enlarged lymphnodes. Also a complete blood count will be required.

Hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
