How Can Inflamed Blisters On The Left Ball Of My Foot Be Treated?

Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2022
Question: I have recently been dealing with blister on the left ball of my foot. Diagnosed with type 2 in 2010, feet have been burning, and neropithy has set in over the years. Riding horses at rodeo got lazy and wore thongs into flooded stall to clean, also had to walk a lot more to different events. Got home and noticed blister on lt ball of foot. Went to cvs pharmisist recommended epsism salt and neosporin, and watch closely. Treatment seems to inflame, leaving alone seems to dry wound out but when I try to walk it seams to fill up with fluid. Kinda worried can u help?

Brief Answer:
Take rest, do not open blister and get treated.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Since there is a blister on the ball of left foot and also have diabetes along with the burning and neuropathy you need to be very careful.

Do not open the blister on your own as the dead skin above the blister is still working as a natural dressing. Once you remove the blister the underlying wound will be exposed to atmosphere and more prone to infection.

Get your Sugar levels checked to see that it is under control.
Clean the whole foot with Liquid Povidone Iodine as it will kill the external bacteria not allowing any sort of infection.
May need to change the dressing once a day.
Epsom salt helps in intact injuries if there is a lot of edema / swelling.

Give rest to the affected part by restricting walking as may open up. Also needed is the color doppler of the affected limb to see for any arterial flow obstruction.

You may please photos as these help in cases for on-the-spot diagnosis and planning management. Continue the medications as these must have been prescribed by your Doctors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards

What is a color Doppler. Blister not healing so I did remove dead skin, again seamed to be aggravated by treatment did better with skin removed and no dressing. Will put iodine if still necessary. Please review replies for proper spelling and grammar. Not sure if you are recommending I go to a doctor, or have assumed I already did. Why would I use your service if I already went to a doctor. I feel this Recommendation was of low quality confusing and would appreciate some clarity. (Example) wouldn't u want to know if I had removed dead skin on blister before advising on treatment?

Brief Answer:
Please give additional information and post clear photographs.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Liquid povidone iodine (not a plain iodine) will help to avoid secondary infection.

Use sterile gauze soaked in Liquid Povidone iodine to dress up the wound; extra care needed since you have diabetes.
I have not assumed anything, you have mentioned in the information you have provided that you have already consulted a Doctor : yes. >
Color doppler is ultrasonography guided examination for blood vessels and is needed to see if the arteries are getting blocked or clogged.

Please ask for further relevant question. And give details; post clear focused photos.
Regards
