I Have Been Having A Problem With A Sore Throat

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Jul 2020
Question: I have been having a problem with a sore throat for about two months. My symptoms have been a sore throat on the left side, a low grade fever, and a burning sensation in my left nasal passage. I’ve also noticed a muscle on the left side inside my mouth, above my tongue, that spasms every time I breathe. I have seen three ENT’s. The first two couldn’t find anything wrong. The third one decided to remove the left tonsil. The tonsil has been removed for several weeks, and now the fever is gone but the burning sensation, sore throat, and muscle spasm have come back. I think the muscle might be the cause of all of this. I also hear a clicking sound in my ear after I breathe in. What could this be?

Brief Answer:
Most likely symptoms that follow an inflammation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask A Doctor" service.

I have read your query.

Since the left tonsil was removed and you had fever previously, it is likely that the muscle you are referring to was affected by the adjacent inflammation.

Clicking sound in the ear as you breathe may be also linked to a previous throat infection that may have spread into the Eustachian tube.

I don't see any neurological conditions that may cause such issues... So, in my opinion, you should continue following up with your ENT Doctor.

I hope you found the answer helpful.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
