Question: I have a weird rash on my inner arm. I have seen my GP who is sending a photo of the rash to the dermatologist but this can take several weeks. What do you think they will say it is?
The rash appeared a few weeks ago. Is completely painless. Is flat to the skin/ non scaly. It just looks like XXXXXXX patches.
I have no other symptoms and have not been unwell.
At first I thought it could be livedo reticularis but my GP although not sure what it is does not think it is this.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of pityriasis versicolor

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

You seem to have a superficial fungal infection- pityriasis versicolor, which presents as XXXXXXX colored, asymptomatic patches, mostly on the trunk. Hear, humidity and sweating seem to favor pityriasis versicolor as it is mostly prevalent in people in summer. However I have not recieved the images of the affected area. I request you to kindly upload images in "Reports Section " so that I am able to have a look and guide you accordingly.

Hope to assist you further once I get the images.

Also just to add the rash looks more like bruising (except I know that it isn’t) more than anything on the skin if that makes sense. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Reticular pigmentation in underarms

Detailed Answer:
thank you.
It does seem like a reticular pigmentation- perhaps resulting friction or pressure from clothing. I suggest you to take an oral Vitamin C supplement once a day for a few weeks.
Take care. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thank you. So it’s not caused by anything dangerous at all?
