I Have A Question About Being Dizzy. For About 5

default
Posted on Sat, 2 Nov 2019
Question: I have a question about being dizzy. For about 5 days I have been feeling dizzying of the day. It does not matter if I am sitting or standing. I feel like I am constantly losing my balance and sort of falling. At times I have to hold on to the wall to walk. My depth perception is off. I can't see where the next stair is. I have to feel for it with my foot. I am also having a hard time seeing how far away the keyboard is on my ipad. I am constantly tapping the wrong letters when I'm typing. My usual causes for dizziness don't make sense this time. I have reactive hypoglycemia but my blood sugar levels have been holding in the 80s which is good for me. I am not dehydrated. I have anemia quite frequently but my blood work came back a week and half ago and it said that my levels are dropping again but my hemoglobin is at 10 (not too bad). I even got new glasses about 3 months ago. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
You need to exclude brain stroke.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. In addition to dizziness, you also have imbalance, which is referred to as ataxia (affecting upper and lower limbs). In this situation, it is important to do a brain MRI to exclude conditions such as brain stroke (caused due to lack of blood flow to brain, especially to cerebellum and brainstem).

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
