I Had Headaches In The Top Part Of My Head Mri Shows No Significant Parenchymal Abnormality Need Second Opinion
Question: I had headaches in the top part of my head, with pain and discomfort in my ears sometimes. A doctor suggested to get MRI done. I got the report which says Multiplanar MRI of the brain done on 1.5 Tesla machine was performed using T1 and T2 sequences. Observations, No area of altered signal seen in the cerebral parenchyma, brainstem and cerebellum. Ventricles are normal in size and morphology. The sulci and cisterns are unremarkable. No significant shift of midline structures is seen. Hyperintense signal is seen in the left transverse sinus on T2 and FLAIR image without blooming or restricted diffusion within. It most likely represent slow flow.Intracranial vessels and dural sinuses display the expected flow void. The craniovertebral junction is unremarkable. Conclusion, No significant parenchymal abnormality is seen. I just wanted opinion on this.

This MRI is completely normal so there is no reason to be concerned. Hyperintense signal in transverse sinus is not pathologic sign and represent variation of anatomy. So intracranially there are no organic causes of your headaches such as tumors or vascular abnormalities.
Therefore the cause of your headache is more likely to be tension headache or migraine which are most common causes and treated only with painkillers and avoiding lights, noise or smoky areas. You need to rest appropriately, have back and neck massage, have healthy diet and consider acupuncture if symptoms worsen. If headache is associated with vertigo, hearing loss or nausea, you should see ENT doctor to rule out Meniere's disease.
