Brief Answer:
Wait and watch, soft diet, medication

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
Based on the history and the Symptoms what you have developped, the swelling can be because of the impact or trauma. Nothing to be panic, if the symptoms subside nothing to worry as such at this point of time. In future there are chances of the fractured tooth getting infected. If you develop any pain or swelling near that tooth, then you need to get an X ray done and get the tooth root canal treated. Till then just wait and watch. Stick on to soft diet for a week. avoid chewing on that side.
If you develop any pain during this period, you can start with a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and analgesics like diclofenac for 5 days (if you are not allergic). Once the covid 19 pandemic subsides you can consult a dentist and get it treated.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back.
Take care.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Thank you for the quick response.

1)I hurt my teeth three weeks back. At that time I took antibiotics and pain killers. Currently the pain has subsided but I experience soreness when the affected teeth touches the teeth below it and also while speaking. I am not sure if this is the normal healing process or an indication of some thing worse.
2) If I delay going for x-ray until covid pandemic has subsided will my infection (if any) get worse?
3) Can I eat hot food or drink hot coffee?

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Wait and watch, antibiotics if you develop pain, vitality test

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
Mild discomfort will be there in that region since the tooth position has been disturbed. Just wait and watch for some days. if you develop unbearable pain then you can consult the dentist. Better not to go out since the number of reported covid positive cases are increasing. Even if you develop severe pain you can take one more course of antibiotics.
if you are not able to bear the pain then consult a dentist where they follow all protocols and get the treatment done.
Why I am telling to wait and watch is the teeth take some time to respond to injury. so better wait for atleast 4 weeks. We can decide whether the tooth requires root canal treatment or not after taking an X ray and checking the vitality of the tooth. Usually vitality test will be done after 3 weeks.
If the vitality test becomes negative then tooth has to be root canal treated.
You can have hot and cold things and regular food. But avoid hard things from thta side.
I hope I have answered your query. if you have any queries reply me back.
Take care

Dear Dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Thank you for your response. Its already been about three weeks since I hurt my teeth. Are you saying I should wait for another three weeks? I can bear the pain and avoid chewing but my concern is whether the infection will spread to other teeth? Do you suggest using gumex or any other applicant?

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Dear Dr XXXXXXX

Today I noticed white stuff between gums and teeth. I tried to remove it using dental floss but it won't go away. When I touch my tongue to it I feel like some thing is stuck between teeth and gums. This stuff is on the affected teeth and a few other teeth around it. Please advise what I should be doing?

Brief Answer:
Need to take X ray, better to wait for some time

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
The reason for me advising you to wait and watch for some time is,
1. Following trauma the teeth takes some time for it to recover or get infected, this time cannot be predicted. only way to find out is the presence of pain in the tooth and by by taking a x ray.
2. Since there is a covid pandemic condition it's not safe to get the tooth treated. We can treat the tooth by taking preventive measures but better to avoid.
Regarding the white stuff between the gums could be food debris or deposits. Kindly upload the images so that I can clarify what it is. Meanwhile you can try to clean it with tooth brush.
Do not panic, the affected tooth will not infect other teeth.
If you really want to get the tooth treated immediately, consult a dentist and get it treated. Make sure they follow all preventive measures like using PPE, mouth rinse, and other things during treatment.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back. Take care.

Brief Answer:
No need to extract the rooth, same tooth can be root canal treated, crown

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
The same old tooth will be retained and the canals present within the root of the tooth will be cleaned and filled with an organic material. After root canal treatment the natural tooth will be trimmed and measurement will be taken for the cap or crown. The root canal treated tooth should be covered with a cap or crown since the tooth will become weak or brittle after root canal treatment.
I hope I have answered your question. If you have any queries reply me back.
Take care.
