Question: I am taking BuPROPion 75mg (one capsule with evening meal). I have been taking this medication for approx. 1 month now. I don’t notice any improvement in mood. My biggest problem is that I don’t have bowel movements daily as I did before starting this medication. Because of this, I am feeling quite uncomfortable and miserable and frustrated. Is it safe for me to stop this medication altogether?

Brief Answer:
Constipation is a side effect of Bupropion

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. Constipation is a side effect of Bupropion and since feel you haven't noticed any improvement with the addition of this medication, I recommend you talk to your doctor about a change in medication. If your primary care physician is not able to give you a better alternative treatment you may ask for a referral to a specialist.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, increase the fiber in your diet, take an over the counter fiber supplement and take long walks.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
