Brief Answer:
Sudden onset snoring could be due to medicines or alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Snoring is a sign of upper airway obstruction. In your case it started 2 weeks ago and you have not mentioned previous history of snoring. Sudden onset of snoring should be evaluated by ENT surgeon for any visible obstruction in airways.
You can revert here with details of your symptoms. Do you usually snore? Kindly also let me know any medical conditions like epilepsy, obesity, etc and medicine use. Do you consume alcohol? Do you feel breathless during day also? Any associated cough, mucous etc? Do you use any machine to assist breathing in night?

You can try gargling with warm water with some salt in it.

I observed mild snoring before only if I hadn't enough sleep or I was physically drained No health problems No Alcohol Can this happen without any injury ? Do I need to eliminate any foods during night?

Brief Answer:
It can happen due to some swelling or laxity in throat tissues

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

It may happen even without any injury.

Anyways I can suggest following lifestyle measures untill you consult an ENT specialist:
- you can avoid milk and other dairy products as they can produce excess mucous. Also avoid spicy or sour foods.
- Avoid fatty foods like sweets, chocolates, cakes, etc that can increase weight.
- Regular exercise daily can bring down inflammation and any excess weight
- Mix one teaspoon black pepper, half teaspoon turmeric in one spoon of honey and take it twice a day for 3 days. It may bring down any local infection in throat
- Gargle with 1-2 spoon of coconut oil before sleeping and spit it out. Donot rinse with water after this. This may also bring down local inflammation

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
