I Am Having A Little Blocked Nose And Some Difficulty

default
Posted on Sat, 2 May 2020
Question: I am having a little blocked nose and some difficulty of breathing. I called covid helpline and they said I can consult a normal doctor as I don't have fever. The situation is persistent from last one week. This has happened to me earlier also. At that time I have severe cracking around my lips. I don't remember the name of medicine that skin specialist has given to me.. But I think some antiballergic.

Brief Answer:
It seems to be some allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Blocked nose is suggestive of some allergy. Difficulty of breathing suggests that your bronchus (windpipe) is also inflammed. Currently you can take medicine for allergy (like cetrizine 5 mg upto two times a day only when needed) and see if it helps. Drinking warm fluids and steam inhalation should help. If you know pranayam (deep breathing in yoga), it is best to practice them 2-3 times a day. It will help maintain breathing.

Since its symptoms overlap with COVID-19, so I would suggest that you maintain social distancing. Better is to isolate yourself from family members also.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
