Nice to hear from an encouraging voice of reason without judgement of the toll anxiety takes . Yes, I see a counselor, and a pastoral counselor (faith is very important to me) on Wellbutrin for depression..about 4 yrs. I think. In truth, am not sure if it helps, as both anxiety and depression seem to me to be more situational. Abused child, wonderful spouse + 4 kids; widowed unexpectedly young at 41. Struggled but held on till kids were out on their own. Retired, new home..Health anxiety is the monkey on my back. Therapy helps with other issues...but seeing a new this or that, or feeling a this or that..will produce varying degrees of anxiety...seldom (thank goodness rare). I can not seem to figure out what effects the quickness or degree of anxiety. So as silly as it sounds..am looking for a voice of reason (w/o judging) as to find a way to learn to better handle situations..that have been known to bring about self-harm. Now if I haven't scared you off. Thanks for listening

Brief Answer:
You haven't scared me off, not yet!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for sharing these deep and personal life experiences with me. I must commend you for having come this far. Believe me, most people have already given up. The fact that you are able to go through this all and still maintain a level head speaks volumes as to what you can do. With this mentality, we will slowly, but surely look for ways to address any challenges/anxieties.

As a devout Christian, born and raised by parents who were auxiliary in the church, faith is huge part of me. While I don't offer a talk about this with my patients, I feel comfortable doing so with you because you have expressed how treasured this is to you, too.

Depression/Anxiety and other issues which are circumstantial or situational are not best managed with medications. You need to be coached so that you can develop coping skills to address most if not all. If this fails, medications should come in as an adjunct and not necessarily the core.

I will like us to break these scenarios in smaller versions and tackle progressively. I remain at your disposal.

Thanks and waiting.

Was out...exactly at church...LOL...good place for meditation ! Faith, my husband's father was a minister...so faith is like air; you need it to breath.
I agree with the meds. Am weaning off gradually as you said, it is of poor help when I threatening or perceived threatening issue occurs. Am not sure how this works as far as staying in touch. I am guessing; I just look for you..or ask for you. Current state has little to do with virus...I have looked for help on other venues...and then found..they just leave. As you can imagine abandonment an issue due to background. That panic of "I AM ALONE" is powerful. So look forward to your help and understanding...S

Brief Answer:
You can always ask direct queries to me.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The virus is quite real. I will not want to pretend and say it isn't a big deal. That would be providing false assurance. It is a certain concern, but the good news is we can actually stay safe as long as we adhere to preventive measures.

As a Physician, based in New York, I have treated so many COVID positive patients. I have always put on my protective pieces of equipment. About a week back, I did the antibody test and it was negative. I share this to say though I have spent at least 500contact hours with positive patients(confirmed) I am not infected. This means as long as you adhere to preventive measures, you are likely not to catch the virus.

1. Avoid gatherings/close contacts whenever you can
2. If you must show up, put on the face masks and insist your colleagues/mates also put on a face mask.
3. Wash hands as often as possible or use hand sanitizer
4. Above all, ask God to continue to protect you from the virus.

Maybe, I can in return request for a favor from you: Kindly pray for me when you next go to church. May God guide and keep you safe.

This is the link to my personal page so that you can ask questions to me directly. That way, I can guarantee I will be in touch! Feel free to make it a direct query, that way you are sure to get a response from me at any given time.

Good to hear from you, the link you sent does not highlight...do I need to enter it in hhtps box? I also am trying to find out to switch to monthly charge as think, I will feel better having you around. The virus is indeed real, sadly too real. I am masked out in public, carry my little sanitizer and wash hands, the first chance I get. Will pray for you in Capital Letters, that God keep you under His protective care and in His comforting hand. Was going to relate anxiety issue today...but will wait a while...Stay safe and well...S

Back again...decided anxiety ( I think) troublesome. In truth I am not sure how the anxiety factors in. So let me summarize so you can define..woke up ok; though not rested very much. Took Bp meds and Excedrin and headed to PT..where we worked on neck stiffness and the good ole (old) knee. Ears are stuffy as usual..I think full is the word. My head feels like a bobble head doll..thought nasal spray and steam had taken care of that. Headed to Hearing aid office for what I thought would be an adjustment. charger was broken and after I told her I was seeing ENT on Friday about full ears, she said we should wait to adjust until after I saw dr. In office the vertigo feeling became worse..but could drive home..I have meclizine on hand when this flairs up...but audiologist I thought said if taking it helped it may mean "it's" something else..so the anxiety started..By the time I got home..the anxiety was nearing panic. Got online to ask neurologist about vertigo being something more serious..she replied..NO, given it comes and goes and could be BBPV, neck arthritis, or ear..I was prime candidate..the anxiety just makes it more pronounced..Since childhood have Eustachan tube dysfunction..tubes in ears..etc. Broke down took 1/2 meclizine and a short nap..Something helped so I'll take it. Promise, I'll keep any further posts much shorter...the anxiety just scared me more than usual.. Thanks..hope all is well.

Brief Answer:
You are welcome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for keeping me posted.

The sad reality about anxiety is that it breeds more anxiety and makes it a vicious phenomenon. I can for sure say we are not dealing with anything with potentially debilitating or fatal outcomes. How you manage the first seconds of anxiety is capital to prevent further spiraling.

Generally, I will reassure myself this is for a moment and there is no reason to panic as my regular checks don't show something very concerning. Take a deep breath, try getting indulged in something fun or bring to mind some fun memories. You could also pause with a prayer to remind yourself you are covered and protected by his blood.

If these fail, take the relieving medications and some rest.

Keep me posted.

As for the link, you may copy and put in the web browser. Make sure you are using the interface of a direct query that would come to my desk.

I wish you well. Stay well. And thanks for accepting to pray for me. I may not see you pray, but I will feel the impact in my life.
