Brief Answer:
Using ear buds / sticks is not safe .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

Using ear buds / sticks is not safe . It will push wax much deeper inside ear which is difficult to remove .

For minimal ear wax best way to clean it is ear wax dissolving drops like soliwax ear drop - 4 drops 4 times/day for 4 days .

For Hard impacted wax , you need to use ear wax dissolving drops & anti-inflammatory tablet for 4 days prior to removal from ENT specialist .

It is not advisable to to clean ears ourselves by using ear buds or sticks it will push wax much deeper , sometime cause trauma to ear canal & may cause infection .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards.

I was diagnosed lat week wtih a fungal ear infection. I am on clotrimazole drops. The ear canal is much better but ENT doctor said there is fungus on my eardrum, which is causing me some pain but mostly loss of hearing. It sounds like I am under water or in a tin can. How long do you think this may take to resolve?

Hi Doctor,My 2month old son had colds a few days back and now its totally gone. Since gooey discharges in the ear are commonly caused by colds (and other illnesses), i wanna know if i need to be alarmed with the gooey ear discharge i saw in his left ear? at first i saw some crusty substance (for 2days) in his ear just outside his ear canal and in the inner part of his ear flap or pinna, and late yesterday i started to see some liquid or more of a gooey substance in that same ear canal, it does look like a thick mucous and its yellowish in color, beneath it is a creamy liquid substance that smells. Could it be from the colds he catched few days back? or Could have water gone in his ears while i bathed him and caused it? i bathe him every day and call me crazy but im the kind of mum who always check on my baby and i definitely make sure he is clean all the time. this gooey substance in his ear comes out frequently, i couldnt leave his ear unattended in half an hour and its there again. Please help coz Im not sure if it does hurt him coz my baby is normally a bit fussy, i cant tell which is which that causes his fuzziness.Thank you!- dee
