How Many Days After Taking Deviry Does Menstrual Bleeding Start Normally?

Question: I am a 41 years female, I get my periods regularly but missed this time. Doctor advised to take DEVIRY (medroxyprogesterone) 10mg for 3 days. How long it takes to get periods after taking this tablet. My pregancy test are negative

If there are still no periods, you can consult your OBGYN again.

Do not start deviry again now because repeated intake of hormonal pills can further derange your cycle.

Follow up: Dr. Nidhi Setia (4 days later)

It's already 9 days ( Period Date 28-Nov-2015) but yet to get my periods. As per doctor advised, i have taken Deviry 10mg for 3 days. I have tested pregnancy using ICan Kit for 3 days ( 29-Nov-2015, 3-Dec-2015 and 7-Dec-2015) and all tests are negative. Please advise, Also let me the reason for delays. Can i rule out pregnancy.

I haven't taken a other drug and this the 2nd time happened in last 12 months wherein periods was delayed for few days. I don't have history of irregular period except delays for few days once in XXXXXXX 2015. In general, i get period 2 to 3 days earlier, for example if got periods of 28 of October then i expect it on 25-November

As I pointed earlier, you should now go for hormonal evaluation which includes thyroid profile, prolactin levels and also an ultrasound to determine the cause.

You have not been able to get periods with deviry. I would suggest you to take NORETHISTERONE 5mg twice a day for 21 days. Then you will have your periods. After the periods are over, restart NORETHISTERONE for another 21 days.
Repeat this for three cycles. This should normalize your periods (apart from treating the cause, if found out in investigations).
