Brief Answer:
Abortion process takes upto 15 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. After taking MTP drugs, mifepristone (the top drug) and misoprostol (the rest four drugs), the abortion process is completed in around in next 15 days. There is slight pain in lower abdomen along with cramping and passage of blood clots and products of conception through the vagina.
If there is severe unbearable pain in abdomen or there is excessive bleeding, and she is needing to change her pad in less than 2 hours, then she should consult an OBGYN specialist as soon as possible, as surgical abortion may be needed.
There is nothing to worry if the pain is slight and bleeding is not severe.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you both good health.

Brief Answer:
wait for 7-10 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for responding. I would suggest her to wait for next 7-10 days for the abortion to occur.
If still there is no bleeding, then she may have to go for surgical evacuation, as there would be failure of medical method.

Brief Answer:
mixed the way of dosing

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, by her last menstrual period the gestation age on the date of taking abortion pills was 5 weeks3 days or 38 days.
MTP kit should be taken for pregnancy of less than 49 days as below:
Mifepristone200 mg on day 1
Misoprostol 400 mcg on day 2 or 3, that means 2 tablets of misoprostol given in pack , both to be taken either vaginally or orally.
Bleeding should start within24 hours of taking misoprostol, however the complete abortion may take 7-10 days.
If there is no bleeding, then a repeat dose of misoprostol400 mcg should be given.
If there is still no bleeding, then abortion should be done using surgical instruments for which the patient needs to be admitted.
Your wife has mixed the dosing of misoprostol, taking one tablet vaginally and one orally.
Has she taken MTP pill last time also in same manner?
Has she taken the pill under the supervision of a doctor?
Please do get back to me with the information, if feasible.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma
