Question: Hello Doctor,
after how many days will the sebaceous cysts fill up,if only incision and drainage is adopted rather than surgery?

Great question.
If only Incision and Drainage is done for sebaceous cyst, depending upon the response of the internal lining of the cyst wall and the status of the cyst whether it is infected or not, the possibilities are:
- It may take months and years for the sebaceous cyst to fill up if the lining is intact and works the same way as before. This is so as the fluid still be reabsorbed.
- It may fill up earlier if the re-absorption capacity of the lining is reduced. (Character of the interior may change after incision and drainage)
-There is a small chance that it may not fill at all if the linings get adherent to each other or the secretary lining is disturbed or gets extruded on its own.
