Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Usually for tricyclic drugs like dolusepine it takes about a couple of weeks for the effect to take place, however since it is a dose increase we are talking about and you were already on the medication the effect does not need that long, a couple of days should be enough.

As for the dosage generally speaking it is not high, most common dose is 150mg a day and can go to 225mg, though one should have in mind also the patients age as the dosage should be reduced in the elderly. So shouldn’t go beyond 150 mg in your case and if you have any other condition such as liver or kidney disease (liver in particular for this drug) the limit perhaps should be even lower.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.

Brief Answer:
May well be a side effect

Detailed Answer:
If this drowsiness has manifested since the drug was started I believe it to be the cause. It is true that by taking it in the evening it is possible to partially avoid that side effect as the peak effect is during the sleeping hours, but still it is a drug which has an action of a long duration so some of its effect may persist the day after.
So while this effect may be attenuate during the following weeks, if it is still affecting you after 1-2 weeks of time you should talk to yur doctor about it. A dose reduction or switch to another medication may be necessary.

I hope to have been of help.
