Brief Answer:
Smaller incision if feasible is the less invasive way.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Hip Replacement involves replacing your hip with artificial hip made of metal and polyethylene. To replace the hip joint needs to be opened.
Normal technique requires complete exposure of hip to avoid complication to nerves and vessels. In certain individuals particularly thin individuals exposure can be done through smaller incisions , but in heavy individual Larger exposure is involved. Smaller incision is the less invasive way.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
