How Can Sleeplessness Be Treated Despite Being On Zolpidem?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Feb 2019
Question: I've been sleeping without any problem until last Monday, when i started having difficulty sleeping through out the whole night. I had the same problem through Friday of last week and decided to go to the ER. There they took blood test and did some lab work and said my Liver enzymes and Kidneys were ok.

Prescribed me a sleeping aid (Ambien), and the pharmacy substituted it with Zolpidem 10mg, It's not helping out at all. I took one last night and I'm up already, could not sleep the whole night.

Been having abdominal pain for more than a year now, they done almost every test and results are good from Ultrasound, Cat scan, Hida scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy, X-ray and serries of lab test, they still could not find anything. Blood pressure not normal, it higher than normal.

Still have this abdominal pain, was so it may be muscle problem, the gastroenterologist I was seeing said she will let me Dr. refer me to a neurologist which he never did.
Not sure what to do again.
I have fair skin color, now my face is getting darker and pale and getting gray hair almost over all my body. I need help on what to tell my Dr. when i get to the hospital this morning cos I have an appointment with him.

Brief Answer:

Neurologist examination

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

So as you explain you have had excluded almost all causes of breathlessness (heart, stomach, lungs, anaemia).

I fully agree with the opinion of the other doctors for you to see a neurologist specialist for sleep disturbances.

I advise you to explain to him your current situation and he will further examine your clinical picture and your lab tests and will advise you further.

Usually, we don't recommend using sleep pills without knowing exactly the cause.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
