Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You might experience pain but the wound does not look bad. Don't worry, just follow the following instructions.
Salicylic acid pads can cause chemical burn and wounds caused by them should be treated with:
1. Gently wash off (rinse) the area with water to make sure you remove all the remaining Salicylic acid in and around the wound
2. Let the area dry and than cover it with non-adhering gauze (gauze that have little Vaseline) to help cover it but not allow it to be adhering to the gauze. Iodine, alcohol and oxygen peroxide are not recommended to be used in wounds as they may cause a lot of pain and slow down the healing of the wound.
3. Be cautious of antibiotic ointments as they may have sometimes ingredients that might irritate the area and hurt more so it is safer just to use Vaseline. If you notice that the wound remains moist and soft and becomes more sensitive with the Vaseline than you can choose to use just clean dry gauze to cover the wound and keep it clean.
4. You will need to change the gauze every time it seems to be dirty or at least 2 times a day.
5. Watch it for redness and swelling, if you see it is getting more red and swollen around than secondary infection is happening and antibiotics are needed (as i saw in the picture it does not seem infected at the moment).
6. Painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen can be use to help with pain but sometimes local cold compresses might help better with pain (do not apply ice on wound as it may make the burning worse, apply cold dry packs that you can wrap with a thin towel before you use on the painful area). Try to avoid local cream with analgesic effect (like diclofenac) because these can irritate the wound and make the pain worse.
7. wear clean cotton socks and comfortable shoes. Many times the shoes are responsible for callus and corns to form and also make them worse so make sure you wear the most comfortable shoes you have.
8. The foot wounds are difficult due to the pressure on the wound (from standing on it) but within the first week the area should feel much better, depending on the depth of the wound.

For the treatment of the corns or calluses in the future i would say that it might be better to just go and have them surgically removed. The doctor can easily remove them in the office.
Using salicylic acid is sometimes effective but it does have the risk of burns as it has happened in your case. If you decide to use salicylic acid pads again, please wait till this is healed and the area is not so tender. Than you can use them again but once you notice the area around the callus or corn become white you should stop using it because it means the ingredient is burning the normal skin. If that area gets white do not apply the pads for another 2-3 days and than you can try again. Salicylic acid pads need much care due to risk of burning the normal skin around.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
