How Can Dry Skin Between Thighs Be Treated?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Dec 2016
Question: Hi Doc,

I am male with dark chocolate complexion and I have been having dry skin between my thighs. This started during the summer and was white and really dry. This dry skin condition has only occurred between my thighs and only got itchy at night when it became hot during the summer months. No other rashes anywhere on other parts.
I started to use Vaseline moisturiser and this has helped a lot with the dryness. And this only shows up once I have my bath and don't apply any moisturiser. Is this normal and do I need to do any other thing?

Images attached for ref. It is a lot better than it was. Not used any cream today.

Brief Answer:
Oral and topical antifungals

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have reviewed the Image

I can see that the skin of groin folds is dry, scaly and dark. I would keep a possibility of tinea cruris.
I would suggest an Oral antifungal e.g Cap Itraconazole 100mg (Cap. Sporonox Or Cap. Fixtral), twice daily for 2 weeks.
Topically you may use an antifungal cream e.g Luliconazole (Lulifin 1% cream), twice daily for 2 weeks.
In addition you may take a tablet of cetrizine 10mg once daily in evening for a few days.

Hi Doc,

Thank you for your answer. I am quite relived as I thought it was something more like HIV! I know I am overthinking!. And yes you are right in stating the fact that it was dry and scaly. And it did start to occur when I wore tighter briefs. I now wear lose briefs and it is better

Should I just continue using the moisturizing cream of go for one of the products you mentioned?
