Posted on Thu, 27 Jan 2022
Question: I had an ultrasound of the neck as I complained of right neck lump. The results show that I have borderline prominent lymph nodes measuring 14x11 and 15x18 mm. there is also a 6x7 mm hypoechoic area is the superior aspect of the right submandibular gland it says I could be a small intraglandular lymph node. what does this mean? thank you.

Brief Answer:

Biopsy and PET CT scan

Detailed Answer:

Hi

Your USG report of neck shows enlarged lymph nodes which could be due to infection due to bacteria or malignancy.

Since size of lymph nodes is less than 2 cm there is nothing to worry.

I would advise you to take a week of antibiotic course

If the swelling does not resolve then biopsy test and PET CT scan needs to be done to rule out cancer
