Question: Hi this started 2 1/2 weeks ago. Began with a severe worst headache ever. That lasted 4 or 5 days and a fever began. The fever was intermittent however body is still running hot but the headache is gone. Severe tiredness has set in where I am unable to get up and down from the bed easily. I have lost close to 20 lb and my mouth is dry and I'm always thirsty. I barely have an appetite maybe once or twice in the last week. Everyone tells me my skin is discolored slightly. I am Colombian and tend to have a yellow color. But at times I was flushed and red. I do not want to go to the hospital because of covid-19 which I tested negative for last week which really confused me That's what I thought I had. I have no cough or runny nose though. My urine is a rusty orange brown. I am an ex IV user and I'm off of theFentanyl for 3 weeks now. Another reason I don't want to go to the hospital as well as no insurance. I thought part of this was detoxing. Can you help me? Or perhaps lead me in the right direction? I would think I need a complete blood panel don't know how to get that without going to the hospital. Maybe we could order one with your prescription. One last thing prior to this even with the drug use I was becoming weak when I didn't eat. Food seemed to instantaneously make me better. But now don't want food.

Brief Answer:
several points.

Detailed Answer:
To get medical information, one has to interact with medical people and places. Generally, there are clinics and doctors who are not INSIDE the hospital.

Discoloration of the skin, darkening of the urine would often be with hepatitis. There is hepatitis A, B, and C.. the Band C are transmitted by infected needles. Hepatitis A is related to colds and far more contagious than COVID.

AND there is malaria which usually starts with fever and headache and goes up and down for weeks/months. Cannot say in your particular case and all of these respond to treatment and are far far worse without treatment.

In the US, the rate of serious illness from COVID is 1% or less if someone is under age 40 and probably closer to 1 in a thousand if under 25.
