Question: Hi, i have red spots on my scalp on the side and back of my head. 6 in total. They have been there for perhaps a year or maybe longer. They are flat and the size of 5mm to 1cm. I am otherwise a fit an healthly non smoker. Please can you tell me what it is. Is it serious? And is there any treatment for it? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can be seborrheic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I see the pictures you uploaded and the scalp is red in different parts and dried.
I believe it can be seborrheic dermatitis.
I think you can use antifungal shampoo such clotrimazole shampoo, nizoral or other shampoos containing tea tree oil, zinc and selenium.
If it still doesn't get better visit a dermatologist
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
