Hi, Doctor - I Am In Such Discomfort With This

Question: Hi, doctor - I am in such discomfort with this neurogenic bladder issue (definitely due to a nerve) that I just wanted to touch base and get any suggestions u may have. Obviously, botox would not work in this situation since bladder is already tight. Need to calm the nerve(s) that regulate that urge in bladder (even when empty) and have seen a few specialists and all they have come up with is vesicare - which does nothing since bladder is fine and not in spasm. Could u help me with any suggestions - meds, patch, an injection that would not compromise the bladder, any home remedies. Thank u so much.

Hi, doctor. To be honest, I forgot if I answered with more info or not and before the discussion runs out, this is an unusual situation leading me to believe that it is more neurological than physical since all physical components have been ruled out. It's not your usual overactive bladder inasmuch as I have no leakage, etc. Just the opposite. Have uncomfortable constant urge to go but nothing. My family doctor knows my history of neuralgias and feels that all the nerves are overly heightened in the genital area - causing the burning and the urge to go all the time but has no idea how or what to do to calm them. If u have any advice, pls. write back
Thank u as always..

I would explain as follows.

Hello again.

I have read the additional info that you provided.

In your case, the best treatment combines pelvic floor exercises and pharmacological therapy.

You can try Kegel exercises and treatment with antidepressants such as Imipramine or Amitryptiline.

Discuss with your Doctor these issues.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Take care.
