Hi. I Haven’t Been Able To Pee In About 3

Question: Hi. I haven’t been able to pee in about 3 days. I’ve been throwing up. I do not have swollen ankles and am not retaining water. I’m constantly fatigued. When I wake from sleep, I have dry mouth. I previously had kidney and pancreas replacement surgeries. I don’t currently have blood sugar problems. I’m unsure how much water to drink, if any. I’m drinking very sparingly. I don’t know if the throwing up has caused dehydration. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

Brief Answer:
control vomiting first.later on evaluation with lab tests recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* The condition of inability of urination is lack of urine formation which is secondary to
dehydration from vomiting.
The vomiting itself can be part of intestine infection or kidney related issue which can
be possible in absence of swollen ankles.

My recommendations at present

- Get a prescription of tablet ondansetron ( 4 mg ) and take it with sips of water morning
and evening to control the vomiting, which should should be the primary goal.
- Once vomiting is subsided, consume liquids at the rate of around 100 ml per hour
approximately 2 - 2.5 liter per day.
- Avoid all spices, dairy fat, non veg stuffs in the diet at present.

- Do approach your physician on priority basis for further evaluation of blood and urine
tests to find out the route cause of vomiting, lethargy and other symptoms ; which will
enable you to understand the issue and cure it at earliest.

Wish you best recovery and health.
Welcome for any further clarification.

Regards.
