Question: Hi I am a male age 51 I have a history of anxiety issues it has been almost ten years since I had a bad period dealing with anxiety.About two weeks ago I had a close family member pass away.I am again going through a period of anxiety worry and fear. The last 2 weeks have been the worst but I can recall feeling anxious as far back as 6 weeks ago from what I believe are corona virus and changes to work schedule.I am presently on zoloft and just recently increased the dose in the last 2 days to 150 mg per day per doctors request.I fell like I am over the worst but I still feel run down from what I believe was the stress(headache not a lot of energy) .My legs also feel a little weak and little bit of a shake.I guess my question is are muscle weakness and shaking part of the symptoms of being anxious or anxiety attacks and how long of a period do these symptoms last ?

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to the 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I am Dr. Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

The symptoms which you are experiencing i.e lack of energy, lack of drive, tremors, shaking, easy fatigue, and lassitude are a hallmark of anxiety disorder.

Your clinician has rightly revised your treatment protocol according to your accentuated symptoms.
As soon as the optimum blood levels are reached, there would be control of symptoms and you will start feeling better.

This should happen in the next 1 to 2 weeks.

For the time being...

Be physically active.
Practice belly breathing.
Do meditation and yoga.
Get some sun exposure.
Don't be sleep deprived.
Try to remain well hydrated.
Read some motivational quotes.
Getting psychological counseling would be helpful.
Spend some time with your family.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards
