Hi Doctor, My Baby 3 Months Old, His Bell Button
Question: Hi Doctor, my Baby 3 months old, his Bell button swelling like in attached image . We noticed this recently and when we touch baby feeling discomfort and it's tender to touch. please suggest .
Brief Answer:
You have to wait for 3-4years.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I saw the picture.
It is small Umbilical Hernia.
There will be small defect beneath the umbilicus. It closes spontaneously by 3-4 years of age.If it doesn't close by that time, surgery should be done to close the defect.
Sometimes, bowel or omental fat will go into the defect and.cuase pain.Ultrasound abdomen will confirm the diagnosis along with the size of the defect.
Nothing to worry as of.now.
If the baby is having tenderness, please consult a Paediatric Surgeon and proceed further.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Regards
