Question: Hello, recently multiple foods I eat regularly are causing allergy like symptoms and it is making me worried. My face, throat, lips, tongue get a burning itchy feeling after I have eaten potatoes, sweet potato, brown rice, eggs, salmon, corn chips, nuts, almonds. I don’t understand what is happening. Is it possible to suddenly be allergic to multiple foods?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is possible to start developing allergies suddenly.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of acute allergies is more likely.
Yes, it is possible to develop allergic reaction to food items suddenly to which you are comfortable (non allergic) earlier.
So better to consult allergy specialist in person and get done detailed allergy testing to identify the foods which are allergic in your case.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Well, I will see if I can get into one. It just seems weird that multiple foods are doing this. Not just one food. I’m talking about foods that are not even allergens. I ate these quinoa bars earlier and they did not have any of the big 8 allergens or corn in them. What else could be causing this? It does not seem probable that I’m suddenly allergic to like 20 foods. I have never heard or read about anything like this. Please help

Brief Answer:
May be a poor quality of batch.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
These food items are made in batches.
So it is possible that one fine batch is not upto the mark and lag in quality.
Poor quality foods can also cause similar symptoms.
This is just a possibility. Not sure about reality.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
