Question: Hello, my name is Locota Francisc, I ame a 36 years old male, I have an average constitution. First of all excuse my English it is not my native language, I ame from Romania. Yesterday when I went to urinate, I felt a sharp pain in front left part of my abdomen, in the lower area. Between the left iliac and lumbar. After an hour of pain, almost a hard pain but supportable, the pain also migrated in the back to the kidney area. To ease my discomfort I took some pain pills and took a hot bath, it worked great and then I went to sleep. After 2 days I still feel the pain but it is less painfull, I went for work about 8 hours. So after nearly 2 days the pain still exist it is bad but supportable. In the morning the pain is in the front of my abdomen but it migrates also to the back in the kidney area. my stool is ok and the urine has a normal color. I don't have fever or nausea and any other symptoms beside this pain.I had a kidney stone a couple years back. I don't want to go to the hospital because of the SARS-cov-19 pandemic, but I think it will be wise to go to the hospital if the pain doesn't disappear in 4 days , because it might be something else. I drink plenty o fluids and for now I will rest at home for 24 hours. Do you think it's a kidney stone or something else? What do you recommend me to do next? Thank you for your answer, my best regards Locota Francisc.

Brief Answer:
Yes I think you are passing out as kidney stone.

Detailed Answer:
Good then thank you for being with ask a doctor panel. From the symptoms and the pain that you have described i think you are passing a kidney stone out. Majority of these kidney stones are small and that they can pass out spontaneously. Make sure you are drinking around 2.5 l of water.

Things to watch out for are : if you have severe pain, intractable vomiting and you develop fever anytime. If you have these symptoms and you may need to go to the emergency room as soon as possible.

it is also advisable to do a KUB ultrasound and a urinalysis.

Brief Answer:
2 weeks is the waiting time for stones to pass out.

Detailed Answer:
The waiting tine of kidney stones for spontaneous passage is 2 weeks , with most within one week (around 70 percent).

If you still have pain after two weeks then you may need some form of procedure to actively remove the stone.
