Hello, About Covid 19, Are There Different Degrees Of Exposure?

Question: Hello, about covid 19, Are there different degrees of exposure? for instance, say you pick up the virus on your hands after it has been hanging out on a surface for awhile and is ready to die, then you touch your mouth. Now if you develop the disease from this weaker form of virus, will you then get a milder case? AS opposed to it directly entering an airway from someone's cough or sneeze or saliva, in close range? Or does the strength of one's illness simply depend on THEIR own immune system as opposed to the way the virus was transmitted?

Brief Answer:
The severity of the Covid disease is not related with the way you have take

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I have reviwed your query and here is my advice.

You should know that the severity of the Covid disease is not related with the way you have taken the virus from your hands or directly from saliva of an infected person.
The severity of this infection generally depends on their own immune system, if they have other diseases that can weak their immune system ( immunodepresed) .

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

So you're saying there is no degree of strength in the transmission of the virus? It is simply present, or it is not, it is either dead or alive, as opposed to being weaker or stronger? And again, it is not known yet whether you can be reinfected if you have recovered from covid 19?

Hello and welcome back,
I am sorry for my late response.

Yes, there is no relation of the severity of diseases from COVID with the way of virus transmission.
For the moment, some recent data is there that some recovered patients in China are retested again positive with COVID, but there is not enough pieces of evidence for this news.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards

If you have recovered from the virus and test negative, do you then automatically have antibodies like with any other disease? or do you have to get a separate test for antibodies to covid 19. Also , about a vaccine, how can they make a vaccine for this virus if we've been told that viruses mutate and change, wouldn't a vaccine be useless by the time one is made and this virus has gone away?

Brief Answer:
The immune system produces antibodies for COVID-19.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should know that even in COVID 19, like almost a big part of the viral diseases, after recovery, our immune system produces antibodies. You have to confirm with a specific serologic test (IgM, IgG) for COVID-19.

Usually, even the viruses of influenza can mutate every year but every year the pharmaceutic company modified the vaccine based on the recent study.

So, I think this method could be applied even for the COVID 19 vaccine.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
