Question: Hello, I recently got over a cold.

I have been experiencing minor nosebleeds only in my right nostril. I also have experienced a minor burning sensation in that nostril.

I am concerned because I have used nasal decongestant spray for about 20 years and am concerned that I might have a perforated septum.

Detailed Answer:
Hii. You are having allergic rhinitis with nose bleed. Nose bleed can be a manifestation for allergic rhinitis. You should not use nasal decongestant spray xylometazoline for a prolonged period. It causes reflex congestion if you use it for prolonged period. Even if there is no block in the nose, the sensation of blockage will be present. Prolonged use can also cause necrosis of the mucosa and can cause bleeding. So the best way is to contact an ent surgeon and get a nasal endoscopy done. With the help of endoscopy you can see the exact picture of the nose and if there is any septal perforation or any signs of allergic rhinitis. Get a x ray paranasal sinus done to see the condition of the sinus. Avoid use xylometazoline drop. Start nasal flutucasone spray to reduce the allergic inflammation. Start saline nasal spray solspre to clear the allergic mucin. Take steam inhalation. Only after the endoscopy you can be sure if there is any perforation of the septum present or not. Follow the advice and review if you have any queries.
