Question: I have Hep C - high blood pressure and enlarged prostate.
I take Coversyl Plus HD 8/2.5 once a day.
Doctor wants me to take Sandoz - tamsulosin CR 0.4 mg once day. for prostate.
I thought I read that tamsulosin is also used for high blood pressure. Would it not be possible to quit the coversyl if this is so.?

Dear Sir
I am afraid the literature does not support use of Tamsulosin in high blood pressure or hypertension. The only valid indication for Tamsulosin is Benign prostatic hyperplasia. Although it belongs to a group which is used to treat hypertension (alpha-1-blockers), it has minimal effect on blood pressure. There are specific studies in literature that have shown no significant effect of this drug on blood pressure of patients with or without hypertension.
Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
