Question: Hi doc. Just noticed the below and need your advice

- i feel that my hands have become quite thin from how they used to be earlier. As in i have been feeling some sort of discomfort while placing my hands on the desk while working. Have been experiencing a similar pain while i keep the hands on the side of the door of my car while driving. Today i just reliased that I can feel that my hands have become very thin [by holding from my wrist] and the bones are felt very easily.

- there are small boils kind on my eye lids and this was noticed by my peers. have been feeling that these have been there for las ttwo months or so, though they dont pain, but they are now growing in size [i believe they are]. used to wear my power glasses which is just -.75 and stopped wearing it for sometime now. is this due to lack of sleep or any particular reason.

Just worried on this deterioration.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Do not worry.

Do you work on computer for a long time?

Are the movements of your hand and fingers normal or do you find difficulty in catching hold of some thing?

Are the sensation over fingers normal or do you feel hand to be numb in any part?

Is your thinning of hand associated with generalized weight loss or just you notice that difference in your hands?

Is any part of the hand looking thin (like below the thumb) or the whole hand?

Do you feel the boils on only the eye lids or some where else also?

Are these boils on the upper part of the eye lids or at the junction of eye lids and the inner part of the eye (from where eye lashes arise)?

What is the color of the boils? Are they pus filled or similar in color to your skin or some other color?

Do these boils appear and disappear or are they there constantly?

Can you upload a photograph if possible?

Do you have any other associated problems?

Please reply in detail so that I can help you better.

Waiting for your reply.

Dear Doc,

Thanks a ton for the instant reply.

Do you work on computer for a long time? - yes. I work on the laptop for atleast 6-7 hrs in a day.

Are the movements of your hand and fingers normal or do you find difficulty in catching hold of some thing? - no. the grip is not like how it used to be earlier. My hands used to shiver when idle (left without support in air) but that has reduced now, but the grip has also reduced.

Are the sensation over fingers normal or do you feel hand to be numb in any part? not really

Is your thinning of hand associated with generalized weight loss or just you notice that difference in your hands? - no. i used to work out in gym. as in when i quite gymming, i get back to my usual physique and do not gain weight like others do. i lose the mass and return to my normal look.

Is any part of the hand looking thin (like below the thumb) or the whole hand? - No. its just at the wrist to elbow (more on the wrist only), is what i feel.

Do you feel the boils on only the eye lids or some where else also? - on the eye lids only i guess.

Are these boils on the upper part of the eye lids or at the junction of eye lids and the inner part of the eye (from where eye lashes arise)? - have attached the pic. its not on the junction though. Dont know if it is from the inside. It doesnt pain. but my eys feel tired and burn at time (should be due to the long hrs spent on the system)

What is the color of the boils? Are they pus filled or similar in color to your skin or some other color? - slightly red. more like the skin tone only. pic attached.

Do these boils appear and disappear or are they there constantly? I think these appeared a while ago (say in aug 2012) but reduced. to the extent which were not noticible.

Can you upload a photograph if possible? - i have attached 1.

Do you have any other associated problems? for now this is the only serious problem i can see Doc.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

First thing you should reduce the number of hours you work on your computer. If that is not possible because of some reason (professional) then you should know the right ways to handle a mouse or how to position your hand while working for long hours on the key board.
For example you should not place your key board low enough that you had to bend your hand at the wrist.
Avoid jobs that involve repetitive movements at the wrists.
Take frequent breaks in your job. Drinking good amounts of water will help. Not that the water will decrease your problem but one has to take a break to toilet to urinate.
After the pain is reduced try muscle strengthening exercises. Your physical trainer may help you with this in the gym.
If you do not make these life style changes the symptoms of your problem which seems to be carpel tunnel syndrome may worsen.
If there is significant pain at the wrist then your doctor will prescribe analgesics and thorough examination and confirming the diagnosis.

From the pictures and your description I feel that you are having a chalazion on your eye.
A chlazion appears when one of the oil glands is blocked.
A warm towel compression will help. Do not squeeze them. It may lead to infection. If they are infected your doctor will prescribe antibiotic drops.
If they persist longer despite all these or cause vision problems your doctor will remove them.

You will have to take care of your eyes also when working in front of the computer for long time. Take frequent breaks. Do not forget to close your eyes. In between try to look out of the window or look at a plant in a pot.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
