Question: Hello
I have a query regarding Utovlan, Does Utovlan stop bleeding/period if taken on the 1st day of period or 1st day you see batches of blood ?

My period is 3 days early, i started getting pain and when i go toilet and wipe myself i see a faded mark of blood but my urine is clear of blood

If i take Utovlan now will it stop my period ?

Brief Answer:
its too late once bleeding has started

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

If Utovlan is taken atleast a minimum of 5 days before the onset of period, it is possible to delay the period. But taking on the day of the period it may not be possible to delay it.

The utovlan is a progeterone hormone containing pill and if taken a few days prior will maintain the lining of the womb and will prevent its shedding. But once the lining has started to shed it is difficult to stop.

You could consider taking Tranexemic acid three times a day to decrease the duration and amount of flow.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
