default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: Hi Sir,
We have found a Erythroplakia in my Fathers mouth, Red patches are visible and its been there from last 4 months. We consult with the doctor and did Scrape Biopsy of that.
Doctor has suggested him to take an extra Nutritional diet full of Vegetables and Fruits.
Doctor gave him medicines for 1 month, medicines are Lactovit plus, Maltotal 100 and one ointment.
Please suggest should i wait for the healing or should i consult with some other ENT.

Brief Answer:
Go for Excision Biopsy, continue Medication..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Erythroplakia is a red lesion or Erythematous lesion and is pre-cancerous in nature but do worry as it is not cancer..

Pre-cancerous means the one which has a tendency to convert in cancer in future if left untreated..

The medications given to your father after the diagnosis are appropriate and this is the line of treatment that is followed..

Secondly the scrape Biopsy report is also not indicative anything very serious and mild cellular changes can be seen..

But my suggestion would be to still consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated..
He can advise your father Excisional Biopsy as it will give more appropriate results..

By the time he can continue with high Nutritional diet and the nutritional supplements given by the doctor..

Avoiding any habit if present like smoking or tobacco chewing has to be done..

If he wears denture wear only when necessary and not always..

Any further questions are welcome..

Thanks and regards.
