Does Vortioxetine Help In Treating Obsessions?

Question: Dr. Prajapati,
I would like to know if Brintellix ( Vortioxetine) can help against some obessions created by Solian at a low dosage because of agonism of 5HT7 and 5HT2b some and dopaminergic activity. My psychiatrist is talking about this new med instead of Lexapro

Hi dear,

Thank you for your Query.

First of all Vortioxetine is a atypical antidepressant, serotonin modulator and simulator, a new molecule which is not available in XXXXXXX right now. Hence I do not have first hand experience with this drug. However I do know it has 5HT 1A and 1B partial agonist and 1D, 3A and 7 antagonist property.
So according to its mechanism of action over Serotonin transporter and nor epinephrine transporter, it may help in obsessions caused by anti psychotic medicines.

Yes it is good molecule and according to literature it has high affinity than escitalopram.
