Does Valium Help Cure Anxiety?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Nov 2017
Question: I will be having a CT PET scan. The machine gives me much anxiety (claustrophobic). I have Valium from my doctor. My problem is it says 5mg twice per day (I have 5, 5mg pills). I really do not believe 5mg is enough. I want to take 10mg about 20 minutes before being put in that machine like a peg in a hole. Is this idea OK and will a effectivity of the drug be right doing it this way?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

10 milligrams of Valium is far too much to take at once. I would absolutely not suggest doing that. Please do not take more than 5mg of Valium at once, that should be perfectly sufficient to help with anxiety during a PET scan.
